Gary W. Hanson, M.S. President and CEO
Mr. Hanson graduated from West Liberty Sate College in 1971 with a B.A. Degree in Education & Political Science. He was elected into Alpha Phi Sigma National Scholastic Honorary Society his senior year. In 1976, he graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Safety Management from West Virginia University.
Mr. Hanson has over 35 years Safety, Workers’ Compensation, Benefits and Risk Management experience, including six years with Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, six years with Firestone Tire and Rubber, and ten years with Dairy Mart. He has extensive background in all areas of Safety and Risk Management, and has achieved an outstanding record of injury and workers’ compensation cost reduction.
He is active as a speaker and writer and has spoken on the local, state and national level. He has written numerous articles and has been a contributing writer for the Ohio Division of Safety & Hygiene’s Supervisory Safety Guide, Patterns for Progress, for 12 years.
He is active in many safety and workers compensation organizations and societies. Mr. Hanson is past President of the Society of Ohio Safety Engineers, The McKinley Chapter of the American Safety Engineers and the Summit/Stark county Self-Insurers Association. He is a past Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers. He was a member of the National Association of Convenience Stores National Safety and Loss Control Committee and the Northeast Ohio Self-Insurers Association. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Summit County Safety Council. He also served on the Ohio Manufacturer’s Labor and Workers’ Compensation Committee.
Mr. Hanson has worked closely with the Ohio Division of Safety & Hygiene and has been Chairman of the Food & Beverage Section for the All-Ohio Safety Congress and the American Society of Safety Engineers Section. Through his efforts, the Dairy Mart safety program was highlighted by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation in the July/August 1992 News Magazine. He has received numerous honors and awards, including selection as the 1986 Summit County Safety Citizen of the Year and the 1988 All Ohio Safety Professional of the Year.
In 1990 Mr. Hanson co-founded American Safety & Health Management Consultants, Inc. (ASH).
Daniel E Gleghorn, CSO, Executive Vice President
Mr. Gleghorn is a Certified Safety Professional, by examination, with over 32 years of Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Workers’ Compensation and Risk Management experience. He is a graduate of the University of Akron with a B.S. Degree in Industrial Management and an A.A. Degree in Pre-Engineering. He is a Journeyman Industrial Electrician and holds a Third Class Stationary Engineers License from the State of Ohio. He is also certified by State of Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Division of Drinking and Ground Water, Certification Unit to teach General Plant Safety and by the Ohio Division of Safety & Hygiene to teach Ultraviolet Radiation Exposure Safety. He has been trained by ILCI (International Loss Control Institute) as a Certified Safety Auditor.
George S. Kunz Executive Vice President
Mr. Kunz entered his present position as a safety consultant with American Safety and Health and Midwest Management Consultants, Inc. in June 2006 with over 40 years of safety experience. He now works full time for American Safety and Health as Executive V. P. After a career with the Federal Government of over 30 years he worked twelve years with The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Division of Safety and Hygiene as a Safety Consultant Specialist. Twenty-one years of his Federal service were with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Fourteen of those years (1980–1994) he was the Assistant Area Director for the Columbus, Ohio OSHA Area Office.
George has an extensive working history in the safety field, doing safety compliance audits, enforcement inspections, accident investigations, machine guarding assistance, OSHA Informal Conference assistance, expert witness testimony, OSHA written program development, assisting companies in developing their safety process and on-site and classroom training. He also was a certified OSHA Instructor for the OSHA 10 and 30 Hour classes both construction and general industry.
He attended Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania, and Columbus Technical Institute where he received his degree in Safety/Fire Science. Mr. Kunz was an adjunct instructor for the evening classes at Columbus State Community College for over sixteen years, where he developed and instructed the Safety Program. He also developed curriculum for and taught several safety classes at the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Division of Safety and Hygiene’s Occupational Safety and Health Training Center.
Beyond his college degree program he also attended over fifty other safety courses at various colleges, OSHA Training Center, Safety & Hygiene Training Center, the Loss Control Institute and other private training facilities. Certificates are available on request.

Michael A. Willis
Mr. Willis graduated from Ohio University in 1970, with a BS Degree in Industrial Management. He is a senior member of the American Society for Quality and is a Certified Quality Engineer.
Mr. Willis has 27 years experience in Diverse Quality Assurance Disciplines, being employed with Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Resinoid Engineering, and Safelite Auto Glass. He has extensive background with developing quality systems to achieve Fork QI, Motorola Q.S.R., and ISO 9000/QS9000 Registration. For the last 12 years as Corporate Quality Manager, with tier one and tier two automotive suppliers, he has worked extensively with Ford, GM and Chrysler Assembly Plants.
While at Owens-Corning Fiberglas, he worked with the Corporate Safety Team, serving as a Safety Representative and assisting with numerous Safety Audits at various manufacturing plants. While at Resinold Engineering, he served for nine years on the plant Safety Committee as a Management Representative.
He also has 20 year experience in delivering lectures and training for both the public and private sector.
Timothy J Eberling

Richard Zapko
Mr. Zapko received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Youngstown State University and has worked for over 33 years in the fields of Public, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety.
He worked for the Ohio BWC – Division of Safety & Hygiene from 1979 through 2006. As a Senior Industrial Hygienist, he provided service to Ohio employers in the fields of industrial hygiene, safety, ergonomics and engineering and consulted with clients to explain federal and state regulations. He has provided technical advice and support to various types of industries, schools and universities, union organizations and public, civic and private organizations. He also participated in the BWC Claims Management Process and was involved in the application of Behavior Based Safety Systems Programs for employers. He is a past member of American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).
He has taught and assisted in the development of several classes for the Ohio Center for Occupational Safety and Health (OCOSH). He has represented the Division of Safety & Hygiene as a presenter at: Safety and Health Congresses, University Programs, ASSE and Safety Council functions. He has written several articles for “The Monitor” magazine and has been a presenter at the All-Ohio Safety and Health Congress. He also was a liaison for the Industrial Hygiene section for several years at the All-Ohio Safety Congress.
Mr. Zapko is a two-time winner of the “Fridley Award”, which is given to Ohio BWC employees as recognition for outstanding customer service and team work. He was a member of the Healthy Valley Alliance – Commission for Environmental Health for Mahoning and Trumbull counties and a task force assigned by the governor to assist the Hazardous Material Response Team after the tornado disaster in Niles, Ohio.
Mr. Zapko has worked for the Mahoning County Health Department and the Ohio Department of Health in the Environmental and Public Safety and Health divisions. He was a Registered Sanitarian and was a commissioned compliance officer with the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
James I Pryor II Vice President Business Development
Jim retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and its subsidiaries with 38 years of service in various skilled and management positions, including Manager of Environmental, Safety and Health for Goodyear’s Corporate Headquarters facilities. Jim has a wide range of experience in environmental compliance affairs including site closures under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Management of Solid Waste Sites, Removal of Underground Storage Tanks (UST) and using Best Available Technologies (BAT) in environmental site remediation.
Jim was responsible for the design, development and implementation of Safety Training Programs for both General Industry and Construction and adapting current OSHA regulations into active safety policies throughout the Goodyear Corporation including Goodyear Airship Operations Wingfoot Lake.
Jim has experience in working with small manufacturing operations having served as technical liaison to precision machine shops within the corporation’s Precision Parts Program. He also has 20 years experience in delivering lectures and training for both the public and private sector in regards to workplace safety.

Gary was in an apprenticeship with American Safety & Health Management Consultants, Inc., for two years. He has supplemented his education by attending Kent State University Stark Branch, and has received Safety Training through the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Division of Safety & Hygiene Training Centers throughout the state.
